Take a gander at the list on the right of those who either support Trump, or support the people like us who choose to support Trump — it’s pretty telling! These are the publications, public figures, and candidates who don’t seem to need to hold their nose when everyday Americans make their minds up for themselves.
Supporters of Trump:
1. Phyllis Schlafly
- Celebrated Trump for his ability to think for himself, and stand up to pressure from the left: “When I evaluate a candidate, the ability to resist liberal pressure is the most important character trait. Trump and Carson are among the few who pass that test.”
2. Ann Coulter
- Wrote that Trump “broke the embargo on unpleasant facts” regarding illegal immigration.
- Called Trump “magnificent” for standing up for what he believes, despite the fact that “all his friends [in Manhattan] disagree with him”
- Pointed out that “he really is just standing up for the American working class like I’ve never seen. The American working class really likes him, and always has“
3. Mark Steyn
- Celebrates Trump’s ‘disruption factor’ as healthy and incredibly important, describing him as “the only guy willing to bust beyond those bounds, we owe him a debt of gratitude.”
- Writes that Trump is the only one who has correctly identified that malaise of our country: “Trump is the only one who’s introduced an issue into this otherwise torpid campaign – and the most important issue of all, I would argue, in that ultimately it’s one of national survival. And so the same media that dismiss Trump as an empty reality-show vanity candidate are now denouncing him for bringing up the only real policy question in the race so far.”
Supporters of People who Think for Themselves:
1. Rush Limbaugh
- “He’s [Trump] fed up with both parties and the almost formulaic way they talk and act and get nothing done or make things worse.”
- Notes that Trump is both the only one standing up for conservatives’ issues AND gaining Democrat support while doing so: “Trump is not running as a Democrat. He’s attracting Democrats. He’s attracting people from all over the place. So he has the ability to illuminate all of these issues that I know all of you are frustrated by because the Republicans don’t seem to oppose the Democrats on them, and Trump is the one guy who does. Trump’s the one guy who’s going against conventions on everything. I think that’s part of the reason that he’s popular at this stage.”
2. Mark Levin
3. Dana Loesch
4. Ted Cruz
5. Dr. Ben Carson
